Description

The Centec Oxytrans TR O2-transmitter continuously measures the exact content of oxygen in liquids and gases. The sensor is especially designed for breweries and other high end process requirement applications, e.g. power plants or bioreactors. The optical principle of measurement is based on the effect of dynamic luminescence quenching by molecular oxygen. The indicator layer on the glass installed in the measuring head is illuminated with a blue-green-light. This excites the indicator molecules causing  them to emit a red light. The level of red light is detected by an internal receiver. If oxygen is present, the energy transfers to the oxygen molecule. After the collision with the indicator layer the oxygen molecule is transferred from its ground state (triplet state) to its excited singlet state. As a result, the indicator molecule does not emit the luminescence. The luminescence signal decreases linear to the oxygen content. This decrease is the basis for the oxygen calculation. The O2-concentration can be displayed locally on the instrument screen and also transmitted as a digital or analogue output signal for a control system.
